Priorities
SMALL TOWN FEEL + LOCAL ENVIRONMENT
Jupiter's development should be compatible with the scale of the town we have, and should not try to copy the big cities to our south.
Our town is a gateway to so many incredible natural experiences, a unique environment and unmatched quality of life. We must preserve the sights, sounds, and feel of a vibrant coastal community by protecting the "Old Jupiter" character and scale of Center Street, updating and enhancing our recreational facilities, keeping our local waterways thriving, and working with property owners to preserve important historical structures and sites.
SAFETY
Our sense of security helps our neighborhoods and businesses reach their full potential. Public safety is local government's first and most important job - the foundation on which all other community services rest.
As the Town matures, the Council should continue to prioritize the exceptional level of service provided to residents, join other large municipalities in Palm Beach County and bring both public safety departments together under one roof by completing the establishment of a world-class local fire rescue department. This enhances our emergency response capabilities through joint training, improved coordination, and greater operational efficiency while developing custom programs tailored to our needs and reducing costs for residents and businesses.
TRAFFIC
Traffic is easily one of the most frustrating parts of living in Jupiter. Parts of Indiantown Road host more crashes than any other part of Northern Palm Beach County, affecting public safety, and the western section of that road near the highway earned an "F" for its level of service.
This is why the Town Council must fully vet the County's proposed transportation plan to be sure Jupiter residents are included and benefit from the initiative if it passes. It is also why we must continue to pursue Island Way South which will relieve traffic on West Indiantown Road, and follow through on improvements planned for Indiantown with funds granted to the Town by the State Legislature.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
In this changing and at times challenging economic environment, we need to maintain focus on our town's finances, ensuring every dollar is spent wisely and effectively.
Maintaining close oversight over our contracts, agreements, and investments helps local governments do more with less. I hope to continue my work on the Town's long-term funding plan for recreation upgrades and the completion of our local fire rescue department.
A STRONG ECONOMY
Small businesses play a big part in making Jupiter a unique and attractive place to live, and they have been extraordinarily challenged since the pandemic.
I believe I can use my experience with the Town's Business Advisory Council, the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce, and the U.S. Small Business Administration to help the Town do even more for small businesses. One idea I'd like to pursue is bringing back a storefront revitalization grant program for small businesses in downtown Abacoa and other targeted areas looking to attract new residents and customers. I'd also like to continue to experiment with community events in the inlet village to support residents living there as well as the area's small businesses.
